Discover the charm of Arequipa: Surrounded by stunning colonial architecture and the majestic Misti Volcano in the background, Arequipa is a jewel of the south of Peru. In this program we will explore the main plaza, the serene world of the Santa Catalina Monastery, a vast complex that feels like a city within a city; and we will venture out to the Canteras del Sillar, the legendary quarries where the iconic white volcanic stone, or sillar, is extracted.

Upon arrival in Arequipa, a private guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel.
Overnight in Arequipa
Today you will stroll through the charming streets, with Arequipa’s distinctive white volcanic sillar stone buildings. On this tour we will visit the Yanahuara Mirador, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the majestic Misti volcano, the Cathedral. We will also visit the Santa Catalina Convent, where nuns lived in seclusion for 400 years, and the Plaza de Armas. After the tour you will return to your hotel.
Overnight in Arequipa
Today you will learn where the typical white color of Arequipa's buildings comes from, the "sillar". We will see the whole process of mining and carving this mineral.
The tour starts with a walking tour to understand where the sillar comes from, as we will walk through different canteras.
You'll have the opportunity to visit skilled artisans working with sillar, using traditional techniques to carve and sculpt intricate pieces.
We will have time to take pictures with the magnificent sillar figures before returning to the city.

Today you will have a free day to enjoy and explore the city on your own. We recommend indulging in a culinary experience, trying out the delicious local cuisine or you can engage (optional) in our Traditional culinary walking tour, where you can discover the local flavors of this region.
