6D Great Inca Trail Huanuco Pampa to Huarautambo

On this 6-day trip, you'll hike one of the most pristine and least-traveled sections of the Great Inca Trail. From the stunning site of the Huanuco Pampa, this journey will take us through high mountain passes, ancient agricultural lands, farming villages, and barren steppes to finally reach the Inca outpost of Huarautambo.

You will head from your hotel in Lima towards the remote Incan administrative center Huanuco Pampa.
Today is a day to acclimate to the altitude and prepare for days ahead on the trail. On the tour learn about this spectacular archaeological site. Enjoy a traditional Pachamanca lunch hosted by the local tourism co-op, featuring an earthen oven where meats, potatoes, and traditional flavors cook to perfection.

Today is a trekking day heading to the Andes, you´ll be accompanied by our expert support team.
During meal time enjoy savory hot plates and a campsite that awaits after a 12-mile hike.

Continue trekking southward, through agricultural lands farmed using ancient practices and along high,barren steppes.
Follow the ever-present stone pathway that is the Great Inca Trail, until you reach camp. Tonight’s rest point will be a Tambo, a rest stop used by the Incas on the banks of the Lagoon Tambococha.

From Lagoon Tambobocha hike over 11 miles past tiny farming villages, until you reach your end point of Yanagalan. Just over 14,700 ft. of altitude reach the highest point of the journey so far.

Today is the longest day of hiking after approximately 13 miles along the mountain ridge taking in spectacular views, you’ll make camp at your final site of the trek, the beautiful Yanacancha.

Today descend from Yanacancha to the Incan outpost at Huarautambo. Enjoy a tour of the archaeological site, before returning to the busy city of Lima.
