New Cusco - Santiago air connection

A second airline adds a direct flight in 2027

Starting January 3, 2027, SKY Airlines will operate a direct flight between Cusco and Santiago de Chile, adding a second airline to a route currently served by only one.

LATAM currently offers the only direct connection between the two cities, departing in the morning. SKY's new service will run as an overnight flight, nonstop, with a flight time of three and a half hours. Once they launch, Cusco and Santiago will have daily direct flights: a morning option and a night option, run by different carriers.

The route will operate daily during the summer season, seven flights a week. For travelers moving between Peru and Chile, it removes the need to route through Lima, a shift that matters most for operators building itineraries that combine Cusco with Chilean destinations, where a Lima layover has been the default until now.

Domestic route: Lima–Puerto Maldonado returns March 2027

Adding to the good news, SKY will also resume its Lima–Puerto Maldonado route on March 1, 2027, with one daily flight. The one-way trip takes one hour and fifty minutes, departing Lima at 12:55 and arriving in Puerto Maldonado at 14:45.

This route complements the Cusco–Puerto Maldonado connection SKY already operates, giving the airline a direct line from Lima into the Peruvian Amazon without requiring a Cusco stopover first. For itineraries built around Manu or Tambopata, it opens a second way in.

What this means for itinerary planning:

Two airlines on Cusco–Santiago, and a direct Lima –Puerto Maldonado option, give operators more flexibility to sequence multi-country and multi-region trips without defaulting to Lima as the connecting point.
